The Marine Reserve of Capogallo - Isola delle Femmine is located in the province of Palermo, on the northern coast of Sicily. It is surrounded by two nature reserves and was established in 2002 to protect marine fauna with the highest scientific and biological value.

The quality of its waters is also perceptible thanks to the vermeti trottoir which is a sort of platform that extends to the sea and which was formed as a result of the cementification of shells of molluscs belonging to the Vermetidae family.

It is typical of the Mediterranean Sea and its importance lies in the fact of modifying, in some way, the characteristics of the coasts and creating new spaces. The depths of this Marine Reserve are very interesting given the presence of several caves and depressions that favor the presence of numerous species of fish such as: sea bream, corfani, wrasse, corvine, grouper and moray eels.

You can also meet the Mediterranean barracuda, jellyfish Rhizostoma pulmo (sea lung), amberjack, tuna and turtles of the Caretta Caretta species. As for the flora, the depths of this portion of the sea offer us a truly varied and colorful show made of algae, corals, red gorgonians and axinella cannbina.
