The Greek Theater
1 Via del Teatro Greco Taormina
Grandiose, solemn, intriguing, scenographic. Sitting on the steps and listening to Medea or Agamemnon or Oedipus can happen even if there is no actor on the scene ... an evocative place! It contains a dense series of evidences from various eras, from the protostoric age to the late ancient and Byzantine age.
The Greek Theater is one of the largest in the Greek world, entirely carved into the rock. In ancient times it was used for performances and popular assemblies, today it is a place where the Greek tragedy lives again through the Cycle of Classical Representations that takes place every year, thanks to the INDA (National Institute of Ancient Drama). At sunset, and maybe even with the full moon, here on the steps of the Greek Theater, we will live a unique experience.
